Tam Coc means 3 caves including 3 natural caves: Ca cave, Hai cave and Ba cave. All 3 caves were formed and accreted straight through the mountain by the Ngo Dong river.
Located in the Truong Yen Limestone Mountains, 3km from Tam Coc Ninh Binh, Bich Dong Pagoda was built in 1428, early in the Later Le Dynasty. With its name "the second most beautiful cave in Vietnam", the ancient beauty of this place will leave great impression to visitors.
Outside the pagoda, on both sides of the path, there is a brilliant lotus pond, inside, there is Dark Cave with a very beautiful view from above. Coming to this place, you will also be immersed in the fresh, quiet atmosphere, and all the fatigue and sorrows in your life should disappear.
Ha Pagoda has an architecture in the style of Dinh, built on a high foundation at the foot of the mountain, including 5 large compartments. The pagoda is built of ironwood, the roof of the pagoda is impressively designed. The pagoda columns over 4m high are made of very sophisticated monolithic stone.
Located in Ngu Nhac Mountain range, Trung Pagoda is the next place that you should visit after discovering Ha Pagoda. The design of this pagoda is unique, impressive with a part built in the cave; the rest exposed outside. This pagoda has undergone many name changes from Dong Pagoda, Bach Ngoc Thach Son Dong to Bich Dong Pagoda.
From Trung Pagoda, just take 21 more stone steps and you will see the perfect beauty of Dark Cave. This eight-meter-high Cave is a large space with bright lights, which makes it look majestic and quiet.
This is the place to worship the kings Tran Thai Tong, Tran Thanh Tong, and generals Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quang Khai, and Queen Tran Thi Dung. In the past, during the resistance war against Nguyen Mong, kings of the Tran dynasty went to the mountains of Trang An - Tam Coc to build Vu Lam palace. You can walk from Tam Coc boat station to reach Thai Vi temple or stop on the journey from Tam Coc Ninh Binh.
This cave is located in the middle of Dong Vo Mountain, on the way from Ngo Dong River to Thai Vi temple. Thien Huong cave is nearly 60m high, 40m long and 20m wide. Inside the cave, there is a shrine of National mother Tran Thi Dung. This is a dry and bright cave, empty at the top at an altitude of 15m above the ground.
Located along Bich Dong mountain, Xuyen Thuy cave is a dark and flooded cave. The cave is about 350m wide, about 6m wide, with the widest place being 15m. The ceiling and walls of the cave are flat and its upper part looks like an impressive semicircle of stone arches. The road to this cave is located right behind the mountain, with the opposite side is Bich Dong pagoda.
Located nearly 1km from Bich Dong, Tien cave is a beautiful dry cave. The cave consists of 3 large caves. Sitting on the boat going inside the cave, visitors will feel that pleasant cool atmosphere. The twinkling stalactites with different shapes such as money tree, rice tree, male fairy, female fairy, lion, tiger, dragon, will bring visitors great impressions.
The change of climate and nature has created interesting shapes of stalactites in the cave that look like colorful clouds.
This is also a beautiful must-visit pagoda. It is located in Chua Moc mountain, right in front of the pagoda lies a large water field. Its yard located at the foot of the mountain is large with ancestral church located on both sides.
